Melissa & Alex - Road Trip Horizons

With Lisa Hunter, Estes Park Wedding Officiant - at Skyview At Fall River Village

The Heart Of Melissa & Alex’s Wedding Ceremony:

A Bigger World Because Of Each Other

As I look back on all of the favorite memories that Melissa and Alex have shared with me, my notes are like a trip log from a cross country travel journal. Camping on the rugged north shore of Minnesota, touring the Pacific Coast in Washington, off-roading in the red rocks of Utah, climbing waterfalls in Colorado and the list goes on. Trips that they’ve loved and that have drawn them deeper into their shared life.

Neither Melissa or Alex were big adventurers before they met - it was the pleasure of doing it together that got them started. Because of their relationship, they have each stretched out of their comfort zones to see and experience so many amazing things in the past years. This strength in their connection was one of the things we focused on during their wedding passage.

We created their ceremony to reflect the fact that they each have broadened each other’s horizons and grown so much as individuals in the years that they’ve known each other. Come along on our photo story to see the ceremony elements that they chose…

Meet The Couple

Setting The Scene

Skyview at Fall River Village is a beautiful spot, with a sweet deck for a ceremony and a stunning view with Colorado 14’er Longs Peak as part of the backdrop.

Ceremony Highlights

These two chose a traditional processional with Alex walking in first, then bridesmaids, groomsmen, then Melissa’s father escorting her down the aisle.

Melissa and Alex describe themselves as spiritual but not religious, and at the same time they wanted a nod to their Catholic and Lutheran upbringings, so we opened the ceremony with the classic First Corinthians to do just that.

I shared snippets from their adventures and how they’ve both expanded their horizons because of their road trips in nature. We also looked forward to some of the dreams they’re planning to fulfill - there are so many!

These two used my Vow Adventure Kit to write their vows from scratch. Their vows were filled with emotion and deep care. It was beautiful to witness.

They chose a wine box ceremony to emphasize the meaning and importance of their promises, and to ensure that they will revisit and evolve their vows in the years to come.

As a blessing on their ring exchange, we read a poem about the power of choice - that in marriage you get to choose each other again and again.

We emphasized the meaning of the moment after their ring exchange with a blessing that Melissa and Alex were particularly drawn to, written by Pastor Dave Willis.

Married!

Congratulations, Melissa & Alex!

May your marriage bring joy and blessings to one another and to your family in the years to come. May you always come back to the deep resonance in your connection. May you continue to travel, adventure and inspire one another to broaden your horizons as you walk the journey together. So much love, Lisa.
