Sunset Elopement - Love Is In The Air

The Soul Of Danica & Maddie’s Elopement:

Celebrating Their Love

Photos by partner company Colorado Photographer Squad.

When Danica and Maddie got married, they both changed their last name to the name of the brightest star in their favorite constellation. How cool is that?

Just as cool - when these two got engaged, Maddie strung lights and photos from throughout their relationship amongst some trees, then hiked Danica in to find this magical spot with a blanket and rose petals at the base of it.

They had us plan their elopement with the same kind of thoughtful detail - a gorgeous spot for the event under a beautiful tree, a unique reading that they picked, special words that they chose for their I Do’s and the pride flag that they brought for their photos - with matching sneakers!

Not only that, the sunset was incredible on their day and wildflowers were blooming everywhere. Come along on our photo story below to see how these two celebrated their love on the most stunning Colorado mountain sunset evening…

The Forest & The Mountain

It all started with a short hike to our ceremony spot along a trail that is rugged while also easy to navigate. Wildflowers were blooming all along the way, which is special because it’s not like that year round.

When we got to the ceremony spot, Danica and Maddie’s family helped them get ready. And there were bouquets everywhere!

We started by taking a moment to take in the view and really notice that we were immersed in nature.

Danica and Maddie wanted their family to not just watch, but to all be part of the wedding party, standing right next to them, so we set up that way.

Ceremony Highlights

We started with a prayer that these two chose. We also shared a reading about the kind of love that you could never dare to dream you’d have or deserve, but nevertheless here it is, blowing your mind and proving that miracles actually can happen.

Vows were gorgeous. They used my Vow Adventure Kit to write them from scratch and read them from cards. We were all deeply moved and there was a quiet stillness on the mountain that matched the beauty of this moment that these two created with their hand-written words.

We also started a wine box tradition to drink wine and re-read vows on every anniversary.

Plus we laughed a lot along the way, which is the best part of elopements. There is room to feel everything because the focus is on connection.

I love how the way that these two held hands throughout the ceremony. They kept naturally coming back to this double hand-hold. Something about it spoke to the depth and sweetness of their connection.

As rings were exchanged, the sunset just kept getting better and better. We love our mountain elopements because you never know what the sun is going to do and what particular kind of magic it’s going to bring on each evening.

Married!

Nothing like family coming in to hug and celebrate you right after you make it official. Then the most beautiful photo shoot with just these two capturing their just-married glow. Congratulations Danica & Maddie, we love you!
