Mountain Elopement: When A Fox Attends Your Wedding

The Heart Of Mary & Jeremiah’s Colorado Mountain Elopement:

Fox Medicine And A Cliff Edge Sunrise

So the fox didn’t actually come to the ceremony itself, although we’re pretty sure that he (or she) wanted to, and instead stared intently at Mary & Jeremiah the entire time they were in the parking lot (see pic below), plus made motions to follow when it was time to head for the trail.

This was fitting for Mary & Jeremiah who are deeply thoughtful people who take signs and symbols to heart.

The next day I looked up “Fox” in the Medicine Cards book by Jamie Sams and these words stood out, so I sent them to Mary & Jeremiah:

“Quick thinking, fluidity, adaptability, loyalty and solving problems using silence and solitude to guide you until you see a solution.”

Jeremiah emailed back to let me know he’d done some research too. He found that “Fox reveals itself during times of great unpredictability and change… and implores you to break free from your comfort zone and remain flexible with whatever comes next.”

No surprise that this really spoke to Jeremiah regarding some unexpected life path developments that had recently come up!

With a fox sendoff and a beautiful smoky morning sunrise (there was a fire in Colorado at the time), Mary and Jeremiah made vows, exchanged rings and explored the mountain together for their truly sacred day.

Come along for the mini adventure in their photo story below…

It took some bouldering to get to our ceremony spot, and that was part of the fun adventure.

When we arrived, Jeremiah set up his own video camera and tripod to document the ceremony.

Time for the ceremony!

We found a sweet spot near the cliff edge but not too near because Mary is not a big fan of heights. Plus safety is always on our radar too of course ;)

The two chose a reading that was deeply meaningful, and took in the words for their relationship as I read them.

Then came the most heartfelt vows which they had written from scratch using our Vow Adventure Kit. These vows were definitely cry-worthy in the most delicious way, and there were tears shed on everyone’s part.

A ring exchange, a special wine box ceremony and they were married on the mountain!

As they were kissing, the sun was coming up to the east and it was time for sunrise photos.

We attuned to Mary’s awareness of heights and toured these two around the rocks for photos in a way that felt safe while at the same time like a mini adventure…

Then sunrise shots in the Ponderosa Pines, and I’m going to post a BUNCH of these because they are so gosh darn romantic I can’t help myself lol. What a stunning way to end an elopement:
